HEGA Filtration

The unique feature on the Allergy Machine is the inclusion of Austin Air’s proprietary HEGA (High Efficiency Gas Adsorption) Technology. This is a layer of Activated Military Carbon Cloth which is placed after the HEPA filter and replaces the Activated Carbon blends in Austin Air’s other various models.

This makes this unit ideal for use in situations involving high levels of larger particles (1 micron and above). In high pollen areas, smoking households, areas with lots of dust, and homes with woodburning fireplaces and stoves, the Austin Air Allergy Machine will excel. This is what sets this model apart from traditional carbon purifiers that place granulated carbon at the beginning of the filtration chain (which leads to clogs and a loss of efficiency and effectiveness).

By allowing the HEPA filter to first remove the particles from the air, the surface area of the Activated Carbon Cloth is available strictly for contact with the gaseous components which may be causing odors or contributing to the toxicity of the air in your home. This will extend the efficiency and effectiveness of the Activated Carbon longer than if it were at the beginning of the filtration chain. An added advantage is that the Activated Carbon Cloth is much lighter than the 15 lb. carbon blends offered in other models, making transportation among rooms and filter maintenance much easier.
